Nokia Booklet Laptops

Nokia is taking preorders for their new 1.6GHz Atom Z530 3G Booklet. Rumors include Windows 7, WiFi and a built-in, hot-swappable SIM card slot for 3G access.

The timing is right and Nokia has been making some big advances lately, and with even bigger plans still to come.

Other specs include 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a 120GB hard drive (1.8-inch, 4200RPM), integrated Ovi Suite, a 10.1-inch LCD (1,280 x 720 resolution) and an almost unheard of 16-cell Li-ion battery that's user-removable. Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, Assisted-GPS, HDMI, USB 2.0 (x3), an SD card reader and a 1.3 megapixel camera will also be present, and the inbuilt accelerometer should make for some unique add-ons.

Mini Nickelodeon Skinned and Slimed

Dell and Nickelodeon joined forces to create the Mini Nickelodeon Edition,stocked with an Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB RAM, and a 1.3 megapixel webcam. The slime design is ok, but you can do probably do better by designing your own laptop skins and really slime it up!

The new Vostro from Dell comes in three models - a 14.1 inch (1014 and 1088) and a 15.6 inch and all feature Intel Core 2 processors, optical drives, 802.11n, two megapixel webcams, and maximum memory and storage allocations of 4GB and 320GB respectively .

Samsung delivers on a promise from earlier this year and has developed the fisrt 32 GB DDR3 memory module.

Disney's Netpal netbook is coming next month, and will feature an 8.9 inch display with either a 16 GB solid state or 160 GB hard drive, and a Windows XP OS with a Disney themed interface.

Apple's Pro Laptop lineup has undergone some changes this month. The Pro Macbook series is now available in 13, 15 or 17 inch options, and the embedded battery offers about 7 hours.

HP Mini 110, Dell Studio 14z, Dell Latitute 2100, Acer Aspire One D250, and even one from MSI. The GT725 is a 17" Gaming Laptop has a few options like duo or quad core, DDR2 or DDR3 RAM, and a 320 GB hard drive.

One that impressed us is the Lenovo Ideapad U350, an ultra low voltage processor that features up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 500 GB of Hard Drive space. It also has HDMI out and an ambient light sensor that adjusts the brightness to your surroundings.

Samsung's 10.2 inch N110 laptop is now available for preorder and comes with 1.6GHz, 1GB of RAM, and 160 GB HDD.

Also for preorder is the Dell Adamo, sporting an aluminum chassis and 128 GB solid state drive, some folks are looking forward to this one.

India has a reputation for cheap technologies, and this latest news will take some doing to steal their crown.

A recent announce from the Indian goverment for a cheap laptop in an attempt to bridge the gap between the country's rich and poor mentions what they have called the "credit crunch" computer.

It comes with 2GB of RAM, WiFi, and to keep costs down will probably not use Windows OS.

iPhone Is Like A Computer

For those that have tried or own an iPhone, I'm sure you'll agree when I say it won't be long before we're all carrying something similar and leave our laptop computers at home.

Besides a full size keyboard and more processing/memory, the iPhone does almost as much as a netbook, and probably more.

The iPhone has made huge advances in mobile computing and the way people do business. It's like the crackberry revolution all over again, but with more crack!

With a new version coming in a few short months we can't wait to see what kind of new options there will be. I'd predict a better camera, and maybe a slightly faster OS, but beyond that your guess is as good as ours.
